I emphasise ease and freedom of the throat and larynx (voice-box) in my technique, plus sensible and clear breathing. I use lots of simple and effective freeing-up exercises to achieve this, plus easy songs and chants to develop the voice into more resonance naturally and with no strain. I work with all levels, from absolute beginners to professionals, and this approach works with everyone.
Biography :
Susannah Self studied voice, composition and lute at the Royal College of Music: ARCM singing performance. She studied voice for 12 years with Josephine Veasey, composition with Stephen Dodgson and lute with Jacob Lindberg. After College she won scholarships to study in Germany with Sena Jurinac

Her singing work has taken her all over the world, including Chile, Mexico, California, the Middle East and the Far East. For many years she sang as a house mezzo at the Flemish Opera, and at Strasbourg, and continues to perform solo roles in many other European opera houses. She has sung as a soloist with several Continental orchestras, for example the Flemish Philharmonic, and frequently appears as a soloist with choral societies in the UK.
